August 23, 2017

Need movie ideas for your next Halloween party? Here are a list of some great indie movies – from Babadook to V/H/S. These are the ones we believe are the best of all time, some you may not have even heard of!

The ABCs of Death

Any guesses of what this movie revolves around? This anthology movie involved 26 directors each producing one chapter (or short film) on death. There is no denying this falls into the indie movie category. If you are looking for a horror outside of the norm, this is the one for you.

 Battle Royale

Arguably this could be defined as a thriller but with the amount of blood and guts involved, we believe it belongs on this list. Released in 2000, this Japanese movie gained many new watchers after the 2012 release of The Hunger Games which shares a similar plot to Battle Royale, albeit far more tame.

 Under The Shadow

Winning an array of awards in 2016, this Iranian movie gave us a look into life in 1980s Tehran, but with a supernatural twist. Most people had left war-torn Tehran but one mother and daughter decided to stay, and they weren’t alone.

 The Village

Director M. Night Shyamalan has been involved in some of our most loved horror movies such as Signs and The Sixth Sense but his 2004 movie, The Village, went slightly more under the radar. This village is one tight-nit community that never venture off of their land. Beyond the boundaries of their home lives something that could threaten their existence forever.

The Cabin In The Woods

M. Night Shyamalan isn’t the only director to love a plot twist, The Cabin In The Woods became one of the most talked about movies of 2012. It all begins with the conventional horror movie setup, some attractive young people, an eerie wooded location and a threat but just wait until the second half. All is certainly not as it seemed.
